Everything you search gives you some pornography

So, I was trying out blog search engines.  I decided to search "new moms".  (If you haven't heard...and really, where have you been...I'm a new mom.  Oh, and she's the most amazing child ever with the cutest cheeks, pretties eyes, most kissable little fingers and toes....) When I searched "new moms" in Technorati, I got one truly relevant return on the first page of results.  The rest were not what I was looking for and some included pornography.  (I think that you can come up with pornography no matter what search terms you use.  I haven't tried out this theory but I bet it's true.)  I probably would have gotten more relevant results had I used quotation marks or the word "and" when searching.  But does the general public know those tricks?  I'm not sure.  When I used Google blog search I came up with very relevant blogs and some were very amusing.  So, between those two I'd go with Google.  Sorry Technorati.

Oh me, oh my! Change....

Change is a dirty word to me. I understand that it has to happen, but it scares the bejeesus out of me generally. I don't think I have a problem actually adapting to change, but I don't like the thought of it. My life is good and if someone starts talking about changing that it sounds frightening. I'm not too fond of the unknown and really that's what change is all about. So, of course the thought of Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 seemed daunting at first.

The more I look into this whole Library 2.0 thing though, it's not that bad. Really I know a bunch of this already and the parts that I'm not familiar with actually seem kind of fun. I think more than not liking change, I don't like the title. It's very much like my aversion to the word "goals". I hate coming up with "goals" but I do have them. I guess I don't like titles. Too much pressure.

I've got to go be a librarian now:) The li-berry calls!

This is me blogging

Hello, again!  I have now finished one whole thing on this 23 Things list.  It wasn't hard at all.  I had set up a blog before when I was in grad school for one of my courses.  That blog was about censorship in the media.  I wrote a lot about Janet Jackson and her wardrobe "malfunction".  It's not that often that you turn in class work with the word "nipple" in it.  This time around blogging, I feel a little disappointed.  Possibly its' the site I'm using (blogger) and possibly it's because I've had so much more experience with things such as Facebook and Myspace since grad school, but I'm not impressed with my layout options.  I thought I'd have all sorts of "skins" to choose from but not really.  I could never get it to look the way I wanted.  Maybe I haven't discovered all the features on blogger.  However, if I don't discover any more cool ways to enhance my layout I may be taking this to another blog site.  Stay tuned.....

So, I'm late to this party

Well, better late than never!  I thought I'd try my hand at these 23 things.  I was starting to feel left-out.  And that's always a good reason to do something, right?  Cause all the cool kids are doing it.
